What kind of vehicle can The Installer be mounted on?

You can mount the unit on most any size truck or van.  For example, we have one mounted on a Suzuki Samurai.

How long does it take to prepare the unit for a job ?

It takes approximately one minute to set up for the removal or installation of a windshield.

Do the suction cups ever create problems?

No, unless one of the cups is placed on top of a crack in the glass, then the air releases the cup.  But, there are three cups.  If you lose suction from one, the other two will hold unless the crack runs.

What is The Installer's source of power?

The mobile unit is powered by your vehicle battery. (No, your vehicle does not have to be on.)  All of the other units are powered by a small 12 volt battery with a trickle charger.

Is it easy to mount the mobile unit on a vehicle?

Yes, it takes six bolts to fasten it to your vehicle.  The most important part is getting the unit "square."  The rest is general assembly.  Some vans are more difficult than others.

Can you use The Installer to help remove windshields?

Yes.  In fact, it takes pressure off of the head and neck of the auto glass installation technician.

What if I am on unlevel ground?

The top and bottom adjuster plates are in fact...adjustable.  By using a screwdriver, you can run the arm of the plate in and out to get the unit square.  There is a bubble level at the base of the unit to tell you when you are square.

Can you put urethane on the glass before you begin?

Yes.  Some glass shops do put the urethane on the glass first then lift and install the windshield.

What are some of the benefits of using The Installer products?

  • You can fix a problem with a molding just inches from the pinchweld.
  • Less damage done to vehicles, i.e. elbows on the hood, knees in the fender, or leaning on the inside of the vehicle door.
  • No scratching the paint on vehicles.
  • Eliminate many other common types of accidents that might occur during the installation of large pieces of auto glass.
